I first met Ray back in 2011 through work and I was lucky enough to spend a considerable amount of time with him as his client and friend - we kept in touch when my career took me in a different direction a few years later.
Ray was highly influential on a professional basis and was always generous with his knowledge and time which helped me grow into my role at that time - but it was his warm, cheerful personality that I will remember more than anything else.
As Ray fought his illness over the years he showed such courage and it was seldom that despite a constant cycle of setbacks, then recoveries that his determination or spirit wavered.
I shall miss him greatly and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones at this very sad time.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
